Prof. Sam Wineburg

Margaret Jacks Professor of Education and History at Stanford University. In 2002, he founded the Stanford History Education Group (sheg.stanford.edu). His ground-breaking work on digital literacy received the 2020 UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Award and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, Time Magazine, the BBC, and Die Zeit, and translated into dozens of languages. He is the author of six books, including Historical Thinking and Other Unnatural Acts (Temple, 2001) and, most recently, Why Learn History When It is Already on Your Phone (Chicago, 2016).
